Universal access in tourism
Universal Access (UA) in tourism has been recognised by the National Department of Tourism as an important initiative to enhance South Africa's image as one of the world's top tourism destinations by the year 2020. The City of Cape Town has committed itself to the responsible tourism charter where universal access has been highlighted.
About universal access in tourism
Universal accessibility in tourism encourages tourism attractions and establishments to ensure their facilities allow people with disabilities, senior citizens, and people travelling with children and prams to move around independently and with equity and dignity.
The City of Cape Town in partnership with
Cape Town Tourism has developed a website where visitors can access information on universally accessible facilities and services offered in Cape Town. The website also allows attraction managers to upload their information onto the website.
